Released by Downtown Milford Inc.

Downtown Milford, Inc. (DMI) is excited to host the City of Milford’s 231st Birthday Celebration at their monthly Third Thursday event on Thursday, September 20 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.

From 5pm – 8pm, Downtown Milford businesses will be open with extended hours and shoppers, visitors, and attendees are encouraged to wear maroon and gold – Milford’s hometown colors. Don’t have any maroon and gold attire? Don’t fret! In the Farmers Market area, Milford High School students will be onsite selling maroon and gold school district swag from 5-7pm (cash or check only). These colors will dot the downtown and Riverwalk area to create a picture-perfect town photo at 7:15pm. The photo will be taken by drone along the Riverwalk between Washington St. and the Santa House.

In addition to the town photo at 7:15pm, attendees will have the opportunity to light and hold a candle and sing Happy Birthday, followed by a ceremonial cake cutting in the Farmers Market area by Mayor Archie Campbell. Mini cupcakes by Sweet Tia’s Bakery and sponsored by Milford LIVE will be available to the first 200 attendees.

Food trucks include Rosenfeld’s Jewish Deli, Mr. Bar B Que, Sea Hogg, Greenman Juice Bar & Bistro, and Vanderwende Farm Creamery on Walnut St.

The Milford Museum will be open and unveiling their new 2019 Milford calendar and Abbott’s Mill Nature Center will be onsite at Lifecycle talking programs and selling beer to support their trails and those programs.

Local businesses will celebrate Milford’s birthday with specials and events during 3rd Thursday. Splash Design Works is offering 10 percent off their social media package to first-time customers. At Lifecycle, kids can decorate Buccaneer swords from upcycled bike boxes.

Entertainment includes dancers from First State Academy of Dance from 5:30-6pm and Happy Birthday led by Milford High School students. Plus, the Mispillion Art League will be face painting inside the gallery and the Milford Buccaneer will be walking around town, so be sure to grab a photo with him!
