Daphne Bumbrey has been hired as general manager of the Milford Wellness Village, the complex that next year will occupy the Clark Avenue property being vacated by Bayhealth Hospital, which is moving to a new site.
Bumbrey, who holds an MBA in organizational leadership, comes to her new role from Milford Senior Center where she has served as CEO and Executive Director since 2014.
“We are thrilled to have Daphne join our team,” said Nationwide Health Care Services CEO Meir Gelley. “She has been actively involved with the Milford community, knows the people and what they’d like to see, and even more importantly she knows how to make sure everything runs smoothly in a first class operation. She will be the captain of our ship in Milford.”
Over the next several months, Bumbrey will be focused on leasing all of the spaces in the multi-use development with quality tenants that fit into the wellness village’s mission and best serve the community. After that, she’ll work with contractors as they renovate the spaces where the new organizations will operate.
“The Milford Wellness Village will be a place where people can come for many different services, go to the doctor, drop off their children at day care, shop, pick up a prescription and take advantage of other services,” she said. “We also planning a comprehensive educational and job training component
Bumbrey, who has 15 years of senior management experience, says the convenience of having a multitude of services on one site will save people from driving place to place.
Nationwide is scheduled to accept ownership of the property early next year. The company expects to open its skilled nursing center and have the other businesses up and running by July 2019.
