For the fourth year in a row, Carlisle Fire Company will be hosting Operation Santa across Milford and surrounding communities. Santa Claus will be riding a firetruck through the streets of the Greater Milford Area while passing out candy canes to all. The event will take place on Sundays December 16 and 23 from 12 to 5pm. Residents will be able to hear air horns and sirens, when Santa is near.
“This tradition is important for the community because they look forward to us coming out each year bringing the joy across all ages. We get messages from our elder adults who say even though their kids are grown and have their own families, they still look forward to us coming out and driving by,” said Ryan Knowles, Member of Carlisle Fire Company.
The Carlisle Fire Department will attempt to hit almost every street in the city of Milford but with time restraints this may not always be possible. Members of Carlisle ask that residents go to their closest intersection and meet Santa there if he does not pass directly in front of their house.
“Watching the people of all ages hurry to the door or to the front yard to come to wave or to turn a corner to see a huge group waiting for us is the best part,” said Knowles. “There are so many great things this does for not only the community but for our members also. My personal favorite is watching our members interact, and then continue to hear their stories when we return to the station.”
An all volunteer organization, the men and women of Carlisle Fire Department are driven by their love of community and will continue to host fire prevention events throughout the year. The organization is currently accepting application for members in many different roles within the company. For more information individuals are encouraged to visit http://www.carlisle42.com.
