Chief Brown Recognizes Members of MPD

 

On January 29, 2019 Chief Kenneth Brown recognized multiple officers and staff during a small recognition ceremony at Milford Police Department. Chief Brown began by recognizing the 2018 Officer of the 4th Quarter, Senior Corporal Albert Sargent. S/Cpl. Sargent was selected as the Officer of the Quarter for his outstanding performance on the Patrol Division and his dedication to serving the Milford Community. S/Cpl. Sargent was also recognized for his exemplary leadership as an assistant shift commander on his shift. S/Cpl. Sargent started with the Milford Police Department in July 2013 coming from the Town of Milton Police Department.

Chief Brown also recognized the 2018 Civilian Employee of the Year, Ruth Barkley. Mrs. Barkley is assigned to our Records Department and has been since she was hired in 2001. Mrs. Barkley is dedicated to her position and routinely goes above and beyond with her duties. During the recognition ceremony, Chief Brown considered Mrs. Barkley as a “Mom” to many of the officers at the department.

Chief Brown ended the ceremony by recognizing the 2018 Officer of the Year, Patrolman First Class (PFC) Cory Swan. PFC Swan was recognized in September 2017 as the Officer of the 3rd Quarter and then again in June 2018 as the Officer of the 2nd Quarter. PFC Swan was recognized for his dedication to his work on the Patrol Division as well as for a Life saving incident that occurred in August 2018 with a suicidal subject. PFC Swan has served with the Milford Police Department since graduating from the Delaware State Police Academy in February 2016. PFC Swan also served with the Milford Police Department’s Seasonal Cadet Program from April 2012 through September 2015.
