The Delaware Department of Transportation’s (DelDOT) Traffic Signal Construction Section in conjunction with Kriss Contracting are scheduled to begin work on installing traffic signal equipment at the intersection of Route 30/Cedar Creek Road and Route 1 Access Ramp/Wellness Way at the Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus.

The work is anticipated to be complete by mid-May, barring unforeseen delays. After completion, the signal will flash yellow for Route 30/Cedar Creek Road traffic, and flash red for the Route 1 Access Ramp and Wellness Way traffic until further notice. The signal is designed to be easily converted to stop-and-go operations at some point in the future once studies show that full signalization is justified.

Daytime lane and shoulder closures will occur from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, pending weather.

Nighttime lane and shoulder closures will occur from 9:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m., pending weather.

Flaggers will direct motorists through the intersection. Motorists should drive with caution and slow down in work zones.

DelDOT’s Transportation Management Center (TMC) and WTMC 1380 AM provides motorists real-time traffic conditions throughout the state. Motorists can contact the TMC 24/7 to report any travel or traffic related issues at the following numbers: Dial #77 from any cell phone in Delaware; (302) 659-4600; or 1-800-324-8379.
