Melody Joy Foundation Hosts Fundraiser

Founders and board members of the Melody Joy Foundation and the team of Cancer Support Community Delaware gathered at the beautiful venue of “Sunset Cove”, a private residence, paradise retreat and venue in Milford for a check presentation made in honor of Melody Booker Wilkins. Friends, family, colleagues, and sponsors made the donation of $5,000 possible for “Step up for Melody, Dress in your Best Whites” fundraiser held on May 24, 2019.

Melody was an inspiration to everyone she met. Her positivity, energy, kind heart, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life made her a “one of a kind.” Even on her sickest days, she continued to smile, focus on the good, and wanted to be a light to others. Kristi Carpenter, Melody’s sister said, “Melody is looking down on us from heaven and smiling because her loved ones are not only all together, but we are working to bring the light to others and spread joy.”

J.R. Ennis, founder of the Melody Joy Foundation said, “Our girl Melody would’ve been so touched by the outpouring of love and support that night. She was always the person to bring others together no matter what. We look forward to continuing to honor Melody through this bi-annual event and through other ways of giving through the foundation. There’s so much more to come from this amazing board of directors.”

Founded shortly after the loss of Melody Booker Wilkins in 2017, The Melody Joy Foundation, is comprised of close friends and family of Melody who meet regularly to discuss, plan and execute deeds of good for the community she lived in. The selection for this year’s recipient of the Melody Joy Foundation’s bi-annual fundraiser event was Cancer Support Community of Delaware.

Cancer Support Community Delaware is a statewide nonprofit organization whose mission is to ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community.
