Shooting Leads To Arrest Of Ellendale Man


On 09.05.2019 at approximately 12:34 am, an officer on patrol in the area of Brightway Commons heard what was thought to be shots fired. As this was investigated further several vehicles were seen fleeing the area at a high rate of speed. One of those vehicles was able to be stopped on Old Shawnee Road by the officer after nearly striking another vehicle. During that vehicle stop the operator, Treyvon L. Bowman, 25 of Ellendale, was contacted. Further investigation led to a .45 caliber handgun being located as well as cocaine. Investigation revealed Mr. Bowman was also allegedly operating the vehicle while impaired. Mr. Bowman was taken into custody and has been charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession With The Intent To Deliver A Controlled Substance, Possession of a Weapon in a Safe School Zone, Possession of a Weapon By Person Prohibited, Receiving a Stolen Firearm, 3rd Offense Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to Remain in a Single Lane, Driving at an Unreasonable Speed, and Following Too Closely. Mr. Bowman was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #2, where bail was set at $47,503.00 secured. Mr. Bowman was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution and is scheduled to appear at the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas on 09.12.2019. This investigation is ongoing.
