On 09.17.2019 at approximately 10:37 pm, an officer from the Milford Police Department’s Patrol Division stopped a Nissan Pathfinder on Bay Road (SR 1) after observing an equipment violation. The officer made contact with the operator of the vehicle Shawn H. Colson, 29 of Frederica. During the stop it was learned Mr. Colson was wanted by the Justice of the Peace Court #2 and Sussex County Family Court. Further investigation located a handgun in the vehicle, along with determining Mr. Colson’s drivers license was suspended. Mr. Colson was taken into custody without incident and charged with Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon, Driving While Suspended, Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession, Failure to Have Registration Card in Possession, Failure to Have Two Head Lamps, Possession of Suspended License, and Failure to Report Change of Address. Mr. Colson was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #7 ,where bail was set at $2400.00 unsecured. Mr. Colson was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on bail amounts associated with the active court capias. Mr. Colson is scheduled to appear at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas on 09.27.2019 for a preliminary hearing.
