On 03/03/2020 at approximately 1:20 p.m., Corey Mitchell, 26 of Lincoln, DE, was apprehended by the Milford Police Department Drug Unit and US Marshals First State Fugitive Task Force with assistance on the Milford Police Department Patrol Division. Investigators observed Mitchell walking in area of Church Street and Causey Avenue. Investigators were aware that Mitchell had several outstanding arrest warrants and capiases for his arrest. As Officers were attempting to make contact with Mitchell he fled on foot and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit with officers. As Mitchell was attempting to evade arrest, he threw heroin, which was packaged for sale, into the Mispillion River, which was recovered by Officers on scene.
Mitchell was charged with the following charges related to the above incident: Manufactures/Deliver/Possession With Intent To Deliver Controlled Substance, Tampering With Physical Evidence: Evidence Suppression, and Resisting Arrest. Mitchell also had 2 other arrest warrants out of Milford PD, one arrest warrant out of Delaware State Police Troop 7, and one arrest warrant out of the Delaware State Police Sex Offender Unit. Mitchell also had a failure to appear capias out of the Kent County Family Court and another failure to appear capias out of the Justice of the Peace Court. Mitchell had a presentment through the Justice of the Peace Court 2 where he was committed to the Department of Correction in default of $19,900 secured bail for his active warrants and capiases. He was ordered to appear in various courts at a later date reference to these matters.
