Reconstruction of the Marsh Road interchange with I-95 reaches another milestone on or about Oct. 10, when Exit 9 from I-95 southbound to Marsh is due to open.
The signal at I-95 and Marsh will be activated at the same time, the Delaware Department of Transportation announced today. The project called for an additional turn lane for this exit.
A new traffic pattern on Marsh starts Sept. 19, pending weather.
The current contraflow pattern will be removed, and one lane will be reopened in each direction of Marsh. Left turns from Marsh will remain restricted while the median is constructed; motorists are to follow the posted detours. The second lane of Marsh will remain closed each direction for the remainder of the project.
The project began in the spring of 2019. One major change was widening Carr Road and adding a traffic signal on the I-95 northbound exit, moves intended to quell rush hour congestion related to office parks just to the south. The project also improved the area for pedestrians and bicyclists.
