Robert Newsome, paraprofessional at Lulu Ross Elementary School, has been named Milford School District Educational Support Professional of the Year. Mr. Newsome will represent the Milford School District in the state program in November.
This award was developed to honor State of Delaware employees that work in an educational support capacity. Candidates include paraprofessionals, instructional aides, custodial/maintenance staff, secretaries, nutritional staff, technology specialists, and school bus drivers/aides. The nominations are reviewed by a committee and awarded to a District Employee who demonstrates exceptional dedication to their role, promotes a positive and supportive professional image in the school and community, knowledgeable, and dedicated to inspiring students.
Mr. Newsome currently works at Lulu Ross Elementary with ILC students and is an active member of the Milford School District community. During his tenure he has assisted in several classrooms providing support to our most intensive students. Dr. Gaglione, Lulu Ross Assistant Principal, believes Mr. Newsome is well deserving of this honor. “With a bowtie and a smile each day, he encourages students to be respectful and responsible, both in school and in the community.” Earlier this year, he was named Paraprofessional of the Year for the 2020-2021 School Year. Mrs. Mackenzie, Lulu Ross Principal, states “Not only is Mr. Newsome knowledgeable and a professional at all times, he has been a role model for our students and staff. He comes to work with a smile every day and willingly assists wherever needed. We are fortunate to have his services at Ross.”
“Mr. Newsome is awesome everyday with our students, families and staff,” says District Superintendent Dr. Dickerson. “He is a true professional and a consistent advocate for supporting all students. We are very fortunate to have Mr. Newsome working with our students and at Lulu Ross. He is much deserving of this honor and will represent Milford School District exceptionally well as our Educational Support Professional of the Year.” Congratulations to Mr. Newsome and good luck as you represent Milford School District at the State Level!
