Delaware residents, law-enforcement agencies, alumni groups, and supporters across the country have rallied around Snook’s wife, Lauren, and their 1-year-old daughter, Letty, through vigils, memorials, and fundraising efforts.

The Delaware State Police have announced funeral arrangements for Cpl. Grade One Matthew “Ty” Snook, the 34-year-old trooper who was murdered in the line of duty on Dec. 23, 2025, while protecting a coworker at the Wilmington Division of Motor Vehicles.

Services honoring Snook’s life, service, and sacrifice will be held Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, at the Bob Carpenter Center on the University of Delaware campus, located at 631 S. College Ave., Newark.

A public visitation will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. At the conclusion of the visitation, a pass and review will be conducted by all uniformed emergency services personnel in attendance. A memorial service will immediately follow.

Final honors will be presented outside the Bob Carpenter Center following the service, with all ceremonial events expected to conclude at approximately 3 p.m.

DSP officials have asked the public to rely on official department announcements for accurate information regarding service details, traffic impacts, and public access.

A Community Responds to Sacrifice

Snook is widely credited with saving the life of a DMV employee by pushing them out of the line of fire before he was fatally shot. Law-enforcement leaders have described his actions as an example of extraordinary bravery and selflessness.

In the days since his death, Delaware residents, law-enforcement agencies, alumni groups, and supporters across the country have rallied around Snook’s wife, Lauren, and their 1-year-old daughter, Letty, through vigils, memorials, and fundraising efforts.
