REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. — One of Sussex County’s longtime charitable traditions is getting a fresh look this spring—while continuing a mission that has shaped generations of Delawareans.

Organizers say the move reflects the continued growth of the event and rising community interest in supporting the mission of DFRC.

The evening will feature an open bar, music from DJ Hype Entertainment, a lively silent auction, food, and a wine-tasting experience designed to bring the community together in a relaxed, social setting.

At the heart of the event is the silent auction, with proceeds supporting DFRC programs that raise awareness and provide vital resources for individuals with intellectual disabilities across Delaware.

The Sussex Social also serves as the kickoff to the DFRC Blue-Gold All-Star Football Game in Sussex County, a long-standing Delaware tradition that has impacted thousands of young people statewide. Through the experience, student-athletes and participants learn to value individuals for their abilities rather than their disabilities, while forming lasting connections with those served by DFRC.

dfrc logoProceeds from the event help fund programs for people with intellectual disabilities, reinforcing a mission that extends far beyond the football field. “Each year, the experience shows young people that these children have something special to share with the rest of us,” event organizers said.

Attendees are encouraged to turn the evening into a weekend getaway. A discounted room block is available at the Cambria Hotel for $199 per night, plus a $20 resort fee, which includes amenities such as bottled water and on-site parking. The discounted rate is available through April 10.

Sponsorship opportunities remain available, with strong community backing already in place. Diamond Sponsors include the Tidwell and Hall families, along with Gold, Silver, and Bronze sponsors representing businesses and organizations from across the region.

The event is supported by a dedicated volunteer committee made up of local community leaders and supporters who help bring the evening to life each year.
