Downtown Milford Inc. plans a full season of community events, local vendors, and family-friendly entertainment on Main Street
MILFORD — Downtown Milford will once again come alive with music, food, shopping and community spirit as First Friday returns June 5 for the start of the summer season.
Organized by Downtown Milford Inc., the monthly event series has become one of the city’s signature community gatherings, drawing residents, families and visitors to Main Street for evenings focused on local businesses, entertainment and community engagement.
Organizers say the goal is simple: create an atmosphere that helps strengthen connections throughout the community while encouraging people to explore downtown Milford and support local businesses.
“Working together, we make Milford stronger,” said Sade Truiett.
The June 5 event will serve as the official summer kickoff celebration and is expected to feature a lively mix of music, dancing, food and activities designed for all ages.
Visitors can expect live entertainment from DJ Dave, line dancing, food trucks, giveaways and a variety of family-friendly activities throughout the downtown area. Sweet treats from North Pole Creamery also will be part of the evening, along with a wellness station featuring community resources provided by Highmark.
Organizers say First Friday has continued to grow because it creates an opportunity for residents to gather in a relaxed, walkable environment while also giving local entrepreneurs and community organizations direct exposure to thousands of attendees during the summer months.
In addition to attracting families and visitors downtown, the event series also serves as an important opportunity for local vendors, artisans, nonprofits and small businesses to connect directly with the public.
Downtown Milford Inc. currently is seeking additional vendors interested in participating throughout the season. Organizers say businesses of all types are encouraged to become involved, whether through vendor booths, sponsorships or community partnerships.
Sponsors also are being sought to help support the events and expand programming throughout the summer.
Community leaders say events like First Friday help reinforce downtown Milford’s growing reputation as a destination for shopping, dining and community activity in southern Delaware.
The event runs from 5 to 8 p.m. along Main Street in downtown Milford.
