Sussex County Vocational Technical School District Appoints Dr. Kate Marvel as Supervisor of Human Resources and Support Services

The Sussex County Vocational Technical School District has announced the appointment of Dr. Kate Marvel as its new Supervisor of Human Resources and Support Services, with an official start date of June 22, 2026.

Marvel brings experience at both the building and district levels, beginning her career as a teacher and coach in the New Castle County Vocational Technical School District before moving into school administration with the Milford School District.

Most recently, she served as Supervisor of Human Resources and Workforce Development for the Smyrna School District, where her work focused on human relations, educator development and advancing career and technical education. Her background also includes experience in special education, instruction and curriculum development.

Dr. Marvel earned her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from the University of Maryland, College Park, and both her master’s and doctoral degrees in School Leadership from Wilmington University. She resides in Milford on a small farm with her husband and two children.

Sussex Technical High School is a vocational-technical public school that serves Sussex County students, preparing them for careers in workforce environments, higher education and military service.
