The event is free for fans to come to the Lewes Ferry Grounds and watch Team USA take on Australia in Team USA’s second game of World Cup group play.
Team USA fans will have an opportunity to watch the national soccer team take on Australia on June 19, at a free watch party event hosted by Rocking The Docks. The event will be held at the Lewes Ferry Grounds. Gates open at 1:00 p.m., according to a press release from Rocking The Docks.
The event is a family-friendly affair and admission and parking are free. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. and fans will have no trouble seeing the action on the 18 foot video wall that will be set-up at the outdoor venue, according to the release.
There will be activities and USA themed giveaways pregame. Multiple vendors like L’Ocean, Taco Reho, Grain on the Rocks, Da Nizza Pizza and more will be there with plenty of food and drink options.
“We’re excited to create another community gathering at the Lewes Ferry Grounds and give fans a chance to come together and support Team USA,” said Matt VanBelle, the founder of Rocking The Docks, in the press release. “Whether you’re a passionate soccer fan or just looking for a fun afternoon with family and friends, this is a great opportunity to experience the energy of a big match in a unique outdoor festival style setting.”
This is one of many World Cup watch parties happening around the state.
The University of Delaware is hosting two at the Bob Carpenter Center, starting with a June 12 showing of Team USA’s first group stage match against Paraguay. It will also host a watch party for the World Cup Final on July 19. There is a watch party at Hudson Fields in Milton, Delaware, for soccer fans to watch Germany play the Ivory Coast on June 20, and another at the Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington, Delaware, to watch Uruguay vs. Spain, according to the Delaware Tourism Office website.
These are ticketed events and tickets can be purchased for $15. To learn more go to the Delaware Tourism Office’s website.
