MILFORD, Del. — The Milford Rotary Club will mark a century of community service with a special Centennial Celebration on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Big Oyster Brewery in Milford. The event will commemorate 100 years of local, national, and international impact by one of the city’s oldest civic organizations.

Founded in 1925 by 33 local business leaders, the Milford Rotary Club held its first dinner meeting on June 26 of that year and officially received its charter from Rotary International on July 3. Since then, the club has grown into a force for good, with members from all walks of life—bankers, doctors, business owners, farmers, lawyers, and more—contributing to the betterment of Milford.

Over the decades, the club has supported a wide range of causes. In just the last 40 years, Milford Rotarians have awarded over $500,000 in scholarships and academic awards to students in the Milford School District and supported local music programs. The club also played a pivotal role in the creation of the Can-Do Playground at Silicato Park—a fully accessible space designed for children of all abilities—alongside other area Rotary clubs. That project alone exceeded $800,000 in value.

On the international stage, Milford Rotary contributes annually to the Rotary Polio Plus Program, which has helped bring the world to the brink of eradicating polio.

The Centennial Celebration will feature dinner, dancing, and the recognition of club milestones and donor contributions. Sponsorship opportunities are available, and all proceeds from the event will go toward supporting the club’s ongoing service projects.

Organizers say the celebration is not only a tribute to the past, but a rallying call for the next century of service. “We are proud of our history,” said a club spokesperson, “but even more excited about what lies ahead. Milford Rotary will continue to be at the forefront of building a stronger community.”
