Bayhealth will offer community programs to promote healthier lifestyles

As part of its outreach to create a healthier community, the Bayhealth Community Wellness Program will be out and about in the Milford area in August. The program is designed for those who want to live a healthier life.

On August 21, they travel to Slaughter Neck Community Center at 22942 Slaughter Neck Road in Lincoln from 9 AM to 11 AM. At these locations, local residents will be able to get blood pressure checks by a nurse along with individualized counseling about their results, medications they take and health issues.

The Bayhealth Community Wellness Program is free and there is no registration required.

Also on August 15, the Bayhealth Bariatric Program Support Group will meet from 6 to 7 PM at the Bayhealth Kent Campus Board Room.

The support group is a forum designed to provide education, assistance and support for a healthier lifestyle and behaviors. The Bariatric Surgery Support Group is a safe, positive and supportive environment where all Bayhealth Bariatric patients, and their friends and family who share their support, are welcome before or after surgery.

Some of the topics and discussion within the group are focused around weight management and include stress or emotional eating management, building skills for long-term weight loss, social support and pressures, goal setting, nutrition and vitamins, exercise, physical activity and sleep for a healthy lifestyle. There are guest speakers at many of the support groups as well.

Meetings are available in person or a virtual option is also available. Contact Patricia Deer by emailing [email protected] or call 302-430-5454 for more information or for the virtual link.
