The Buccaneer Educational Foundation presented a $15,000 donor-directed gift to the Milford High School 12th Man Gridiron Club during the Milford School Board’s regular meeting on March 23.
The presentation took place in front of foundation advisory council members and Milford football alumni. Matt Bucher, foundation founder and president and vice president of the Milford Board of Education, presented the check to Jack Simon, president of the 12th Man Gridiron Club, on behalf of an anonymous family.
Simon, a 2017 inductee into the Milford Football Hall of Fame, was joined by Gridiron Club Vice President Mike Tkach, a 2022 inductee, and retired State Rep. Harvey Kenton, a 2009 inductee. Bucher was joined by foundation Vice President Norman “Jay” Jones.
The 12th Man Gridiron Club supports Milford football through initiatives such as the Milford Football Hall of Fame, sports banquets and mentorship programs for student-athletes.
In a letter accompanying the donation, Bucher described the Gridiron Club as an important part of Milford’s community heritage and its longstanding support of student-athletes. He noted that the organization’s programs help honor past players while encouraging current and future members of the football program, and encouraged continued community support for the club and similar local organizations.
The Gridiron Club plans to use the funds to further its mission and ongoing programs.
