Sand sculpture artist Andy West demonstrates sandcastle making methods

Mispillion Art League (MAL), Milford’s community art resource, announced that it is once again hosting The 2022 Big Draw Festival! On Saturday, October 8, from 9 am to 3 pm, gather with us to celebrate the joy of color with this year’s theme—Come Back to Color. MAL will offer free, family-friendly art activities on Park Ave. and N. Walnut St. in downtown Milford. Open to all, it encourages us to gather and celebrate the joy of color through art and creativity.

No need to go to the beach—come join us and discover your inner sculptor as you mold sand to create sandcastles on Park Avenue! We’re bringing in 8 tons of sand and master sandcastle builders, Andy West and Darrell O’Connor, will be on hand to show us some of their award-winning techniques. This is a favorite Festival activity and kids aren’t the only ones having fun! Sandcastle building is extremely fun and engaging for all ages and abilities.

MAL will supply the sand, so bring your imagination! There will also be sidewalk chalk art, drawing on a BIG wall of paper, painting pumpkins, and a variety of drawing and painting activities for kids (and adults) of all ages.

The Festival was first organized in the UK 22 years ago and is now the world’s biggest celebration of drawing. It promotes the universal language of drawing as a tool to learn, express, and invent. Activities are for everyone of all ages—families, children, artists, non-artists—anyone looking to have a fun art-making experience. Come out and enjoy creating art for art’s sake!

Mispillion Art League welcomes artists, aspiring artists, and anyone who loves art and believes in its power to enrich all members of the community. Our mission is to provide community-wide access to a quality visual arts program. The Art League also offers art classes in many different mediums for ages pre-K and up.
