The National Weather Service expects minor to moderate flooding in coastal areas, with spotty major flooding possible in some back bays.
MILFORD, Del. — Residents traveling toward Delaware’s beaches, bays and tidal waterways should be alert for coastal flooding Sunday, Sept. 27, particularly around the morning high tide.
The National Weather Service expects minor to moderate flooding in coastal areas, with spotty major flooding possible in some back bays.
Flooding could cover roads in low-lying coastal and bayside communities, and some roadways may become impassable. Vulnerable structures also could experience damage.
Conditions are expected to improve after the morning high tide, although additional minor flooding is possible during the evening high tide.
The flooding threat is not expected to be uniform across Sussex County. Inland communities, including much of the Milford area, are less likely to see the more serious coastal impacts. The greatest concern is for people traveling through traditionally flood-prone areas near the beaches, bays and tidal waterways.
Drivers should avoid flooded roads and use extra caution when traveling toward coastal Sussex County Sunday.
