Delaware Lottery players will soon have a new football-themed game to play, as the Delaware Lottery joins 24 jurisdictions offering the new POWERBALL Xs & Os weekly draw game beginning next month.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday, Sept. 8, at Delaware Lottery retailers statewide. The first drawing is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 13, at 10 p.m., with drawings continuing every Sunday throughout the year.

The $5 game combines NFL team selections with a traditional lottery drawing. Players choose eight NFL teams from all 32 franchises — or opt for a Quick Pick — and win prizes based on how many team logos match those drawn. The jackpot starts at $1 million and rolls over until won.

Players can also purchase up to 10 consecutive drawings for an additional $5 per drawing.

Prize payouts range from $7 for matching four teams to $20,000 for matching seven, while matching all eight teams wins the jackpot.

The game also marks the first nationwide promotional prize program in POWERBALL history. Players can enter eligible winning and non-winning POWERBALL Xs & Os tickets online to earn points that can be used as entries for prize drawings. Available prizes include a trip to Super Bowl LXI, NFL Shop gift cards and other NFL-themed experiences.

Delaware Lottery Players Club members can also enter eligible tickets through the Players Club to earn additional points toward state promotions and drawings.

“From the NFL to the college teams we root for, Delawareans love football — and it’s a sport that unites people and communities,” said Helene Keeley, director of the Delaware Lottery. “The Delaware Lottery is thrilled to harness all this football excitement to offer players a new way to enjoy the sport and potentially win cash and other prizes, while keeping the focus on fun and responsible play.”

The Delaware Lottery said the new game complements its existing sports offerings, including Sports Pick, which has been available for more than 15 years. Sports Pick allows wagering on professional and collegiate sporting events at Delaware casinos, participating retailers and online.

Unlike sports betting, POWERBALL Xs & Os results are determined through a random lottery drawing and are not based on the outcomes of NFL games.

Lottery officials remind players that games are intended only for adults who meet applicable age, residency and eligibility requirements, and encourage responsible play.
