A Delaware City man kicked off the Thanksgiving holiday with an unexpected windfall after winning a $10,000 top prize from the Delaware Lottery’s Bullseye Bingo Instant Game.
Lynn Gillespie, 75, purchased the winning $5 ticket at Shore Stop #287 – Bear Creek on South DuPont Highway in New Castle. He claimed the prize at Delaware Lottery headquarters on November 24.
Gillespie said he typically buys only one ticket at a time and was stunned to see he had hit the game’s top prize. After scratching the ticket, he asked the store manager to double-check it. Even with confirmation, he said he sat in his car for a moment, taking in the news.
