Sussex County native and U.S. Olympian Carrie Lingo will discuss the lessons she learned from elite athletics and how they apply to leadership, teamwork and resilience during the October Lewes Leadership Lunch (L3).
The event, scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 8, will feature a conversation with Lingo about pressure, performance, feedback and what happens when hard work does not lead to the expected outcome.
Lingo, a Cape Henlopen High School graduate, played field hockey at the University of North Carolina before becoming captain of the U.S. National Field Hockey Team. She represented the United States at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, as well as multiple World Cups and Pan American Games. She was named USA Field Hockey Player of the Year in 2009 and was inducted into the Delaware Sports Hall of Fame in 2015.
Today, Lingo works in coastal Delaware as an associate broker with Jack Lingo REALTOR® and leads The Carrie Lingo Team. The family real estate business was founded in Rehoboth Beach in 1974 by her grandparents, Jack and Peggy Lingo.
Hosted and moderated by L3 founder and executive coach Misti Burmeister, the discussion will focus on how lessons from high-level competition can translate to business, relationships and everyday leadership.
The conversation will explore topics including handling pressure, recovering from setbacks, building trust within teams and the role coaches and feedback play in achieving success.
“As with every L3 gathering, this will not be a lecture. Attendees will be invited into the conversation and will have opportunities to ask questions, reflect and learn alongside other local business and community leaders,” organizers said.
The event, titled “A Leadership Conversation with Carrie Lingo: The Leadership Lessons Behind Elite Performance,” will be held at The Listening Booth, located at 18388 Coastal Highway, Suite 11, in Lewes. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., with the program running from noon to 1 p.m.
Lewes Leadership Lunch is a monthly gathering that brings business and community leaders together for conversations about leadership, work and the experiences that shape how people lead. The program was founded by Burmeister and is a community leadership initiative of Inspirion LLC.
