Delaware State Police have arrested Shawn Jones, 30, of Laurel, Delaware, for burglarizing Lakeshore Wine and Spirits earlier this month.
On July 13, 2023, at approximately 1:12 a.m., troopers responded to Lakeshore Wine and Spirits located at 30728 Sussex Highway in Laurel for a reported burglary. The investigation revealed an unknown black man stole merchandise from the closed business after breaking a window to gain entry. Through investigative means and with the assistance of Seaford Police Department, Shawn Jones was identified as the suspect.
On July 18, 2023, Laurel Police Department notified Troop 4 Detectives they had Jones in custody for a theft investigation in their jurisdiction.
Troop 4 Detectives made contact with Jones at Laurel Police Department and charged him with the following crimes:
- Burglary Third Degree (Felony)
- Criminal Mischief
- Criminal Trespass Second Degree
Jones was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on a $3000 secured bond.
