The Delaware State Police arrested 42-year-old Iris Alpizar of Wilmington, Delaware for falsely reporting a carjacking earlier this month.
On July 10, 2023, at approximately 3:58 a.m., troopers responded to the area of New Castle Avenue and Cherry Lane for a report of an alleged carjacking. Troopers met with a 42-year-old woman, identified as Iris Alpizar, who claimed her car was stolen by two unknown males with firearms. Through investigative means, Troop 2 Robbery Detectives discovered evidence disproving this incident or that any other crime occurred.
Alpizar responded to Troop 2 on July 20, 2023, and was charged with the following crimes:
- Provide False Statement to Law Enforcement (Felony)
- Falsely Reporting an Alleged Incident to Law Enforcement Officer
Alpizar was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and was released on her own recognizance.
