Dewey Beach will celebrate its four-legged visitors with the return of Dewey Dog Day on Sunday, Sept. 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the beach at Dagsworthy Street.

The event celebrates one of the town’s favorite traditions — dogs on the beach. Each year, the first Monday after Labor Day marks the start of a season when dogs are permitted to enjoy the beach without restricted hours, allowing pets and their owners to visit the sand and surf from sunrise to sunset.

Dewey Dog Day will feature local vendors, giveaways, and prizes from Dewey Beach businesses. Attendees can also shop Dewey Beach merchandise and take advantage of discounted commemorative lifetime dog licenses.

Organizers are inviting Dewey Beach businesses, pet-focused organizations and dog-friendly vendors to participate in the event. Businesses can get involved by becoming a vendor or donating items for the event raffle.

The annual celebration highlights Dewey Beach’s reputation as a dog-friendly destination while bringing together residents, visitors and local businesses for a community event centered around pets.
