There were no surprises in Round 1 of the DAA Field Hockey championships, at least according to the people seeding the brackets. The semifinals will be played on Monday (Nov. 4) at Delaware State University’s Drass Field at either 4 p.m. or 6 p.m.
No. 1 Cape Henlopen defeats No. 8 St Georges 10-0. Macy Steinwedel led the attack for Cape, scoring four goals, while Alyssa McCarthy scored three. Cape advances to play the No. 4 Wilmington Charter at 6 pm.
No. 4 Wilmington Charter defeated No. 5 Milford 2-1. Elizabeth Terrenova and Alexa Guarneri each scored a goal. Hannah Zimmerman scored the goal for Milford. Charter advances to play No. 1 Cape Henlopen at 6 pm.

No. 2 Smyrna defeated No. 7 Sussex Tech 6-0. Bree Moffett scored four goals to lead the way for the Eagles. Addison Beamer and Cara Nacrelli each scored a goal. Smyrna advances to face No. 3 Middletown at 4 pm.
No. 3 Middletown defeated No. 6 Odessa 5-3. Sarah Kasper led the way for the Cavaliers with two goals, while Layla Dukes added a goal and four assists. Odessa had three different players score a goal. Middletown advances to face 2 Smyrna at 4 pm.
