Eight Meter Talk – Week 2 girls lacrosse top 10

Week are in 2 of the spring season, but not spring weather. Rainy, cold, and windy days have been th norm so far for our athletes. Luckily we haven’t seen to many top 10 in state matchups this early in the season. However we do have some top ten matchups this week and the rain may say different.

1 Cape Henlopen (2-0). The Vikings took care of business against Queen Anne’s County (Md.) before Easter. Their schedule this week includes road games against two more Maryland opponents, Kent Island on Friday and Marriots Ridge on Saturday, both at Kent Island.

2 Smyrna (4-0). The Eagles defeated Saint Mark’s and Indian River last week. They are off until April 10.

3 Sussex Academy (3-0). The Seahawks have played all three of their games at home. They are on the road this Saturday at No. 5 Tatnall at 1:30 p.m.

4 Archmere (3-0). Archmere won its only game last week against Newark Charter but do not play again until April 9.

5 Tatnall (2-0). After a win last week over Avon Grove (Pa.), the Hornets return to the pitch this week for games against No. 10 Wilmington Friends and No. 3 Sussex Academy.

6 Caesar Rodney (2-1). The Riders had a successful week before Easter, defeating Caravel and Stephen Decatur (Md.). They are off until April 8.

7 Caravel (3-1). Caravel bounced back from a loss to Caesar Rodney with a  win over Polytech. The Bucs are off until April 9.

8 Delaware Military (3-1). The Seahawks went into the break with a win over Hodgson. They are off until April 9.

9 St. Andrew’s (1-0). The Saints opened their season with a win over Padua. They remain at home for a game against Sanford on Tuesday.

10 Wilmington Friends (1-0). The Quakers have not played since March 21. They are back in action this Thursday at home against No. 5 Tatnall.
