Downtown Milford Inc. (DMI) has announced that the final First Friday for this year will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. The event is planned for October 4 from 5 to 9 PM in downtown Milford.
“We wanted to do something to recognize the large Hispanic community we have here in Milford and since October is Hispanic Heritage Month, what better way to do that than with a huge celebration,” Neyda Albarran, organizer of the event, said. “We will have bands, a Latino singer, a DJ, bounce houses and more designed to promote the Hispanic culture.”
DMI has developed a new Multicultural Committee which Albarran is leading and this event is designed as a smaller version of a larger multicultural festival DMI is planning for next year. Sponsors for the event include LaPlaza, Linda Vista Real Estate and Aleman & Associates Attorney at Law.
“In the Farmer’s Market area, there will be all Latino businesses who work with the Delaware Alliance of Latino Entrepreneurs,” Albarran said. “The DJ, Just Jason, will be playing Latino music and we will also have a rock band performing on Park Place. Rossie Triuino is a vocalist who will be performing that evening as well.”
DMI is still planning some of the activities that will be available that evening and are looking for volunteers who would like to help with the event. Sponsorships for the event are available as well. For more information on how to volunteer or get information on sponsorships, contact the DMI office at 302-839-1180 or email [email protected].
