Houston Man Arrested on Firearm Charges

On October 22, at approximately 8:41 p.m., the Milford Police Department was dispatched to the unit block of North Washington Street in Milford for an altercation between a male subject and two female subjects.  Officers were advised that the male subject was in possession of a firearm and fled from the scene.

Officers responded to the scene and were able to locate the male subject walking through a parking lot on Park Ave and detained him.   Police discovered the firearm that the male had in his possession during the incident.  Further investigation revealed that the male subject, identified as Caleb Mumford, 22, of Houston, Delaware, was involved in a verbal altercation with the two female subjects.  During the altercation, Mumford allegedly lifted his shirt and showed the firearm to both victims in a threatening manner.

Mumford was transported back to Milford Police Department and charged with one count of Attempted Obstruction of Justice, one count of Possession of a Firearm during the Commission of a Felony, one count of Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon a Firearm, a and two counts of Aggravated Menacing, all felonies as well as one count of Possession of a Firearm while under the Influence and Disorderly Conduct.

Mumford had a presentment through the Justice of the Peace Court 7 where he was committed to the Department of Correction on an intoxication hold.  Mumford later had another presentment in the Justice of the Peace Court where he was given a $31,700 cash bond and no contact order with the victims.  He was ordered to appear at a later date in the Kent County Court of Common Pleas for a preliminary hearing.
