The KSI Clifford T. Crouch Memorial 3 Club Golf Tournament, held at Maple Dale Country Club on September 20th presented over $1,500 in cash prizes. Third place low gross winners, Alan Nichols, Wade Scott, Dave Draper, and Mike Willoughby from the Willoughby Carpentry team each received $25. Dave Draper also took home a $25 Benvenuto gift certificate for winning the Flamingo Fling Ring Toss Contest.

KSI’s 35th annual 3 club golf tournament, officially renamed the KSI Clifford T. Crouch Memorial 3 Club Golf Tournament, was held at Maple Dale Country Club on September 20th. Many sponsors assured success of the day, in particular major sponsors AT&T, Atlantic Aluminum Products, Integrity Nursing, L&W Insurance, and WSFS Bank. Dover Federal Credit Union was the golf cart sponsor, and again this year, Vaughn and Craig Crouch sponsored the “Play it Forward” hole, in memory of Clifford T. Crouch and Jan Crouch.

The tournament is unique in that each golfer is only allowed to bring three clubs as a way to demonstrate what people with disabilities deal with every day.

“A golfer will normally take every golf club available to him, and I’m not a golfer even after planning one for 26 years, but I understand there’s like eight clubs they could take out with them, or something. They have this whole bag of clubs, and each club is for a specific purpose,” Alicia Hollis, Director of Community Relations for KSI, said. “Well, in our three club golf tournament, what they have to do is they kind of strategize with their teammates. “Think about what the person with the disability does every day. These are my strengths. This is what I can do. And so, we do that. At this golf tournament, they are in a situation where they’ve got three clubs, or specific abilities or whatever, and maybe they would like to have used a certain club, but they don’t have it, so they are going to modify how they play”
