USA TODAY’s annual list is compiled by food journalists from the USA TODAY Network based on nominations from editors and reporters nationwide. Rather than ranking strictly by prestige or price, the list aims to showcase restaurants that stand out for quality, sense of place, and a distinctive dining experience.

Lewes Oyster House, which operates in a historic structure in the city’s downtown district, joins restaurants from across the country on the 2026 roster. According to descriptions tied to the list, the restaurant is noted for its coastal-inspired menu anchored by a rotating selection of fresh oysters and other seafood, alongside casual favorites such as boardwalk-style fries. The atmosphere has been described as relaxed yet polished.

“We’re honored to represent Delaware on this national list,” the restaurant said in response to the recognition.
