MILFORD, Del. — The Milford School District Board of Education will hold its next regular meeting on Monday, March 16, at 7 p.m., with opportunities for residents to attend in person or participate virtually.
The meeting will take place at the Milford Central Academy Auditorium, 1021 N. Walnut St., Milford, and will also be streamed online to allow broader community participation.
School board meetings provide an opportunity for parents, residents, and community members to hear updates on district operations, student programs, finances, and policy decisions affecting Milford schools.
Recognitions and Student Achievements
Monday’s meeting will include several recognitions highlighting Milford student accomplishments and school programs.
Among the presentations will be a Buccaneer Educational Foundation grant awarded to the Milford 12th Man Grid Iron Club, along with recognition of the Milford High School choir and band programs.
Student-athletes will also be recognized for their winter sports achievements, including members of the boys and girls basketball teams, swimming team, unified basketball team, and wrestling teams.
The board will also hear a student representative report and a presentation from Milford Central Academy Principal Rene Diaz.
Superintendent and Academic Updates
Superintendent Travis Moorman will provide his regular report to the board, followed by updates related to academic initiatives.
Dr. Bobbie Kilgore is scheduled to present items under the district’s Academic Excellence agenda, including a request for approval of upcoming field trips.
Financial and Personnel Reports
Under the “Building Our Future” section of the agenda, the board will review several financial updates, including:

Monthly revenue and expenditure reports

Major capital reports as of Feb. 28

Construction change orders

A financial performance audit of Fiscal Year 2023 local funds
The board will also consider a personnel report presented by Dr. Laura Bond.
Policy Updates and Board Discussion
Board members will discuss a number of governance matters, including updates from the Delaware School Boards Association and a second reading of the proposed 2026–2027 school calendar.
The board will also conduct a first reading of several proposed policy revisions, addressing topics such as:

Student privacy protections

School choice procedures

Social media and electronic communication policies

Employee overtime and compensation

Field trips and student travel
Public Comment Opportunities
Residents wishing to address the board may participate either in person or virtually.
Individuals attending the meeting in person must complete a public comment request form available before the meeting begins.
Those wishing to comment virtually must register at least 24 hours in advance through the district’s online system.
Each speaker is allotted three minutes to address the board. Personnel issues may not be discussed during public comment, and speakers are asked not to reference specific district employees or board members by name.
Executive Session
The board is expected to briefly enter executive session at the beginning of the meeting to discuss matters related to student discipline, legal issues, and personnel before returning to open session.
