MILFORD, Del. — The Milford Rotary Club will mark a historic milestone with a Centennial Celebration Dinner on Saturday, June 21, 2025, from 5 to 9 p.m. at Big Oyster Brewery in Milford. The event will honor 100 years of service, leadership, and community-building, and tickets are now available to the public.

Founded in 1925, the Milford Rotary Club has left an indelible mark on the region. For generations, its members have come together to serve others, raise funds, and launch initiatives that improve quality of life in Milford and beyond. Over the past century, the club has:

  • Awarded over $500,000 in scholarships to students in the Milford School District, helping young people access higher education and career training.
  • Built the Can-Do Playground at Silicato Park, a fully accessible play space for children of all abilities. The $800,000 project, developed in partnership with other Rotary clubs, continues to serve as a regional model for inclusive recreation.
  • Launched a student academic incentive program in the 1990s and 2000s, offering small prizes and group trips to Busch Gardens to encourage achievement in local schools.
  • Purchased musical instruments for the Milford High School band when school funding fell short, ensuring music education continued.
  • Created the “Flags for Heroes” tribute, placing hundreds of American flags in local parks each Memorial Day to honor veterans and community leaders in a striking, patriotic display.
  • Supported global health campaigns like the Rotary Polio Plus Program, contributing annually to the effort to eradicate polio.

The club also hosts a speaker series featuring local leaders, promotes leadership and fellowship among members, and continues to play an active role in meeting the evolving needs of Milford.

“This event is more than a celebration, it’s a rallying cry for the future,” said Club President Mark Dissinger. “For 100 years, Rotary has stepped up to help solve the problems of the day, from education to accessibility to public health. Whatever the next challenge is, Rotary will be here, ready to serve and make a difference in Milford.”

The June 21 event will feature dinner, dancing, and recognition of the club’s century of accomplishments. Proceeds will support ongoing Rotary service projects, and sponsorship opportunities are still available.

“I want to make a difference and do something to help,” said one younger member of the club. “Rotary gives me a chance to contribute with others who share my love for this community. Together, we can all jump in and help people where we can—and I think that makes a difference.”

Tickets are now on sale. Community members, former scholarship recipients, and supporters of Rotary’s mission are encouraged to attend.
