“We are Milford Day” is open to the community on Saturday, April 18th, from 10:00 – 2:00.

MILFORD, Del. (April 17, 2026) — The Milford School District is making final preparations for “We Are Milford Day,” a district-wide celebration set for Saturday that will bring together students, families and the broader community for a day of connection and school pride.

The event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mispillion Elementary School, where organizers expect strong turnout from across the district and surrounding neighborhoods.

Billed as a community showcase, the event is designed to highlight the full scope of what Milford schools offer — from academics and arts to athletics and extracurricular programs — while creating a welcoming, family-friendly environment.

A full community turnout is expected

Organizers say attendance will reflect the entire Milford community, including district families, students from all grade levels and school staff. High school students are expected to play a visible role, with performers and program representatives helping showcase opportunities available throughout the district.

Local residents, community groups, nonprofits and vendor partners are also expected to participate, reinforcing the event’s role as a bridge between schools and the broader community.

“This is really about opening the doors and showing what our schools are all about,” organizers said. “It’s a chance for families to connect with teachers, explore programs, and celebrate the students.”

Activities designed for families

Saturday’s event will feature a wide range of activities aimed at younger families while still offering something for all ages.

Planned highlights include student performances, art displays, and athletic demonstrations, along with interactive exhibits that allow attendees to explore school programs firsthand.

For children, the event will include face painting, bounce houses, games, and hands-on activities. A popular “Touch-a-Truck” experience will give kids an up-close look at emergency and service vehicles.

Local vendors and food options will also be available throughout the event, adding to the festival-like atmosphere.

Strengthening school-community ties

Beyond entertainment, district leaders say the event plays an important role in strengthening relationships between schools and the community.

By bringing together educators, families, and local organizations in one place, “We Are Milford Day” offers an opportunity for informal conversations, increased awareness of district programs, and deeper community engagement.

As final preparations wrap up, organizers say the goal is simple: create a welcoming space where the Milford community can come together and celebrate its schools.
