On November 24 at approximately 3:06 p.m., Milford Police Department were alerted to a missing 10-year-old male from the 700 block of SE Front St. Officers responded to the area and began to look for the child. The missing child was featured on social media and the search for him was a conversation at a recent City Council meeting.
This missing child was all over Facebook and I couldn’t understand. I couldn’t see anything from the police. So, I messaged Cici (Police Chief Cecilia Ashe) and I asked her for an update. She immediately responded,” Councilwoman Madula Kalesis said.
Groups of people met throughout Milford with one group gathering at a local convenience store to search for the child who was Haitian and, according to reports, “very active and would more than likely be heading toward a park or anywhere that a kid might be looking for fun.” Reports were that he went missing around Fisher Avenue.
At approximately 8 PM, Milford Police Department announced that the child had been found in good health. An investigation has revealed that the child walked away from his residence voluntarily and no others were involved in his disappearance.
“[The chief] informed me he had been found and as soon as I she told me the child was safe, I just let everybody else know and told them to please go home. This is not a safe situation for anybody, because literally, everybody was in their cars driving around town. And if I’m not mistaken, the child was already found at that point which was good. I just want to point out that Cici is on top of it. She is always very responsive.”
