A New Castle man is $20,000 richer after winning a top prize on a Delaware Lottery instant game earlier this month.
Wayne Dunford Jr., 41, claimed the prize after playing 20X THE CELEBRATION, a $5 scratch-off game, according to the Delaware Lottery. Dunford purchased the winning ticket at Tobacco Outlet, located at 2070 New Castle Ave. in New Castle, and claimed his winnings at Lottery headquarters in Dover on Jan. 20.
Dunford, who works as a 3D printer assembler, said he has been playing Delaware Lottery games for about five years and typically buys tickets casually while stopping at local retailers.

He said he realized he had a winning ticket while on the phone with his wife and described his reaction as a joyful giggle as the excitement set in.
Dunford said he plans to use the money toward the purchase of a truck and noted the prize will help provide added financial stability for his family after a challenging period.
“Moments like this are especially meaningful when a win comes at the right time,” said Helene Keeley, director of the Delaware Lottery. “We’re happy to see Wayne enjoy this experience while continuing to play responsibly and for fun.”
20X THE CELEBRATION offers players the chance to win up to $20,000 and is available at licensed Delaware Lottery retailers across the state.
