The North Pole Creamery, located in the Santa House in downtown Milford, will open on Saturday, May 1. The shop will be open 7 days a week from 12:00 Noon until 9:00 PM until October.

“We were able to open last year,” David Pickrell, who operates the ice cream shop, said. “We were very pleased with how our first year finished, even considering how COVID restricted visitor and residents from coming to downtown Milford. The support from the town has been outstanding. There was such a positive and genuine support from our fellow merchants, residents, our friends at the City of Milford and Downtown Milford, Incorporated.”

Pickrell explained that there will be many changes to the menu this year and that those changes will be shared on the ice cream shop’s Facebook page. In addition, the shop will accept credit cards and they are working to add live music and dance performances.

“I absolutely believe we provide a positive addition to the city as well as a destination for shoppers and visitors to downtown Milford,” Pickrell said. “All downtown merchants and restaurants provide visitors with variety. The more the better. We complement each other and we will contribute to the growth of downtown. WE also provide summer employment for local students that I am happy to say were the absolute best last year and most will be back with us this season.”

North Pole Creamery will follow all state guidelines related to the COVID pandemic. They provide only walk-up window service with marked social distancing lane guides and signage. All interior surfaces and serving utensils are sanitized after every single use. All employees wear masks and gloves while on site and they change gloves after serving each customer and after handling money. Hand sanitizer is positioned for easy customer use. Outdoor railings, tables, chairs and umbrellas are spray disinfected every 30 minutes or after each customer leaves, whichever occurs first. All ground surfaces are frequently pressure washed.

“I am happy to have been able to utilize this space for the North Pole Creamery,” Pickrell said. “We are right here in the center of downtown Milford, right on the Mispillion Riverwalk. My goal was to provide a pleasant, outdoor retreat for folks to stop at for locally made hand-dipped ice cream on a hot summer day, right here in downtown. WE are easily accessible by bicycle, car and by foot. Stop by for an ice cream after shopping, having dinner at one of our local restaurants or during intermission time at the Riverfront Theater that is right across the street. Shhh…in addition, we at the North Pole Creamery keep the shop ready for Santa’s visit at Christmas, or maybe sooner!”
