Puzzle exchanges, Pokemon Go walks and pajama story time are just a few things planned at the Milford Public Library for November. The month kicks off with a Friends of the Milford Library Comic Book Sale.

“On Saturday, November 9 from 10 AM until 1 PM, the Friends of the Milford Library will offer deals on comic books,” Lea Rosell, Executive Director of the library, said. “Titles range from Teen Titans to Iron Man and more. Anyone who is a comic book fan will find something they like. Be sure to hunt for those rare collectibles, too.”

Every Wednesday starting in November and running through the end of the year, teens from the ages of 12 to 18 can take a Pokemon GO walking tour.

“Catch ‘em all!” Rosell said.  “Meet in the library, walk around downtown and return after an hour to see what has been captured. If the weather does not cooperate, the event will be held in the Teen Center.”

Pajamas is the theme on November 12 and 26 when the library offers Pajama Story Time at 5:30 PM. Kids can wear their favorite jammies, read, sing and make a craft at the library.

On November 13 at 1:30 PM, Delaware Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health will partner with the library to offer “Mental Health First,” providing information about self-care strategies, stress management techniques and ways to promote well-being in daily life.

“We have guest speakers who will provide insights and tips to help you care for your mental health,” Rosell said. “This is also a great program to connect with like-minded individuals and engage in candid discussions about mental health.”

On Saturday, November 16 at 11:30 AM, the library will celebrate Dinovember with the creation of DIYnosaur Egg Soap.

All materials are provided to make your very own dinosaur egg soap,” Rosell said. “It takes about two hours for the soap to dry, so we are asking everyone to attend as close to the start time as possible.”

Registration is required for this program as space is limited.

Genesis Healthcare will present “Long Term Care and You” on Tuesday, November 19 at 11 AM. This is for individuals who are looking into long-term care for themselves or a loved one. Information will be provided on recognizing when someone could need long-term care, the level of care they may need and financial preparations for long-term care.

“Also on the 19th, we will have the Turkey Trap S.T.E.M. at 3 PM,” Rozelle said. “Using toothpicks and marshmallows, children need to make a cage that will keep their turkey from “escaping.” The program runs until 6:30 PM and families can just stop in.”

On Wednesday, November 20, “Ratatouille” will be the featured movie at 5 PM. The film is set in Paris and follows a young rat, Remy, who dreams of being a chef at a famous restaurant. Fresh popcorn is provided for the movie.

“Do you buy puzzles, put them together and then store them in a closet never to be seen again? We are offering a way to bring them out and dust them off,” Rozelle said. “Our Puzzle Swap on November 21 at 2 PM allow you to bring those puzzles to the library and exchange them with someone else. Simply leave your puzzle and take one you like. Of course, we need full puzzles so if you know yours are missing any, please don’t bring them in.”

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, Milford Public Library is offering a Cozy Drinks Bar on Saturday, November 23 at Noon.

“Celebrate the cold months by making your favorite cozy drink,” Rozelle said. “It could be coffee, tea, cider or hot chocolate, whatever soothes the soul and warms you from the inside out. Dairy and non-dairy options will be available. If you are not into warm drinks, you can even create them in cold versions.”

Registration is required for the Cozy Drink Bar, as space is limited.

The library also reminds everyone that it will be closed on November 11 in celebration of Veteran’s Day and on Thursday and Friday, November 28 and 29, so that its staff can celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday.
