Quick Stick: Week 2 boys lacrosse top 10

The boys lax season kicked off and what a second week it was with some big match ups and some crazy weather.  This week has some big matchups and some schools have spring break so the schedule is a little lighter this week.

 

The top rank team defeated 2 nationally ranked teams in thrilling games last week.  First they erased a three goal deficit to defeat No. 21 St Mary’s (MD) 9-8.  Senior Carson Robinson scored in overtime. His third goal of the game gave the Sals the win.  Then he added 4 goals in their win over No. 8 Chaminade (NY) 10-8 on Saturday.

 

The third rank Quakers got off to a good start last week defeating Polytech 16-3 and St Andrew’s 15-4. Senior Kevin Dolan scored  7 goals and dished out 3 assists while senior Nick Wimchell scored 5 goals and dished out 2 assists..

 

Here is the new Delaware Live rankings heading into the third week of competition.

 

No. 1 Sallies (5-0)(LW No. 1)  The Sals won three games including 2 over nationally ranked teams a  9-8 overtime win over #21 St Mary’s (MD) on Wednesday.  They then beat #8 Chaminade (NY).  This week they travel down to Florida to play Cardinal Mooney on Tuesday and host St Joseph College Institution (NY) on Saturday.

 

No. 2 Cape Henlopen (2-0)(LW No. 2)  The Vikings defeated No 6 Tatnall 10-5. They play against LaSalle College High school (PA) at Washington college (MD) on Wednesday 

 

No. 3 Archmere (1-2)(LW  No. 3) The Auks fell to  Episcopal Academy (PA) last week.  They host Springside Chestnut Hill (PA) on Saturday. 

 

No. 4 Friends (2-0)(LW No. 4)  The Quakers return from spring break to defeat Polytech and St Andrew’s.  They are off this week.

 

No. 5 Caesar Rodney (3-1)(LW No. 5)  The Riders gefeated Kent Island (MD) last week.  They travel to Willow Springs (NC) on Thursday.

 

No. 6 Tatnall (0-2)(LW No. 6) The Hornets started the season playing No.1 Sallies and No.2 Cape Henlopen both on the road and learned a lot about their team in those two losses.  They travel to Newark Charter on Thursday.

 

No. 7 Tower Hill (1-0)(LW No. 7) The Hillers started the season with a win over  East Lake (FL). They host Concord on Tuesday and travel to Sanford on Thursday.

 

No. 8 Appoquinimink (3-0)(LW No. 9) The Jags picked up a pair of conference wins over  Mount Pleasant and Hodgson.  The Jags are off this week.  

 

No. 9 Saint Mark’s (3-0)(LW No. 9)  The Spartans picked up a home win over Indian River last week.  The Spartans are off this week for spring break.

No. 10 Wilmington Charter (4-0)(LW No. 10) The Force picked up a win over Red Lion to improve to 4-0 on the season. They are off this week.
