The Riverwalk Villas Groundbreaking ceremony will take place on June 2nd
MILFORD, Del. — The Milford Housing Development Corporation (MHDC) will host a groundbreaking ceremony for its newest housing development, Riverwalk Villas, on Monday, June 2 at 11:00 a.m. at 401 Mispillion Street in downtown Milford.
The development will bring 27 new townhomes to the area, offering affordable homeownership opportunities just steps from the Mispillion Riverwalk. Each two-level home will feature three bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, and a one-car garage. The townhomes will be built to Energy Star and U.S. Department of Energy’s Zero Ready Home (ZERH) standards, ensuring energy efficiency and reduced utility costs for homeowners.

Located on nearly four acres of land at the intersection of Mispillion and Marshall Streets, the project supports ongoing efforts to expand access to housing for working individuals and families in the region. Construction on the first seven units is set to begin this month, with final authorization from the Sussex Conservation District expected soon to allow the full development to proceed.
As part of the project, nearly one acre of open land near the river will be preserved and donated back to the city, enhancing community green space.
The June 2 event is open to the public. For more details, contact Michele Webb, Resource Development & Administrative Director at MHDC, at (302) 422-8255 ext. 104. More information about Riverwalk Villas and MHDC can be found at www.milfordhousing.com.
