The Delaware Department of Human Resources (DHR) will host a statewide career fair Oct. 7 at the Stockley Campus in Georgetown, connecting youth, adult and justice-involved jobseekers with employment opportunities in state government.
The event, which will run from noon to 4 p.m. at the All Star Building, 26351 Patriots Way, will be the fourth and final statewide career fair hosted by DHR this year.
The morning session will be reserved for invited high school students from across Delaware, providing students with an opportunity to learn about career pathways and explore potential jobs in state government. The afternoon session, open to the public from noon to 4 p.m., will focus on part-time, full-time and seasonal employment opportunities.
This marks the first year DHR career fairs have been held in all three Delaware counties.
“A good-paying job is about more than a paycheck. It’s a chance to build a better future for yourself and your family,” said Gov. Matt Meyer. “Whether you’re a student starting your career, looking for a new opportunity, or rebuilding your life after involvement with the justice system, this career fair is about opening doors to meaningful careers and real second chances.”
The event will also include opportunities for justice-involved jobseekers as part of a partnership between DHR, the Delaware Department of Correction and the Delaware Department of Labor to expand employment pathways in state government.
“Thank you to the Department of Human Resources for playing a leading role in supporting second chance hiring in state government for justice-involved individuals who are committed to working hard to build a career and pursue a new path forward,” said Department of Correction Commissioner Terra Taylor.
DHR Secretary Yvonne Anders Gordon said the career fairs are designed to help more Delawareans learn about opportunities in public service.
“We recognize that access and awareness are key to building a talented, diverse workforce, and we want to ensure anyone interested in serving Delaware has the information and support they need to pursue these opportunities,” said DHR Secretary Yvonne Anders Gordon. “By bringing our career fairs directly into local communities, we are making it easier for people to explore careers in public service and take the next step in their professional journey.”
The DHR Central Talent Acquisition team works with state agencies before each career fair to identify current job openings and employment opportunities. Some positions may include on-site interviews and, when appropriate, the possibility of direct hiring.
The career fair will be held Wednesday, Oct. 7, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Stockley Campus All Star Building, 26351 Patriots Way, Georgetown. Spanish language interpreters will be available onsite.
