The Delaware State Police arrested 55-year-old Richard Boyd, of Greenwood, Delaware, on Monday afternoon for a felony theft that occurred in Ellendale last week.
On October 18, 2023, at approximately 1:57 p.m., troopers were called to a residence on the 15000 block of Rockin Way, Ellendale, Delaware, for a theft report. Upon arrival, troopers made contact with the 73-year-old homeowner and discovered two 40-foot light poles were stolen from his property. Through investigative means, troopers identified Richard Boyd as the suspect and obtained warrant for his arrest.
On October 23, 2023, troopers were notified by Georgetown Probation and Parole that Boyd was in their custody. Boyd was turned over to troopers and taken to Troop 4, where he was charged with the following crimes:
- Theft Greater than $1500 and Victim is Older than 62 Years of Age (Felony)
- Conspiracy 2nd Degree (Felony)
Boyd was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance.
