The Delaware State Police are investigating a single-car fatal crash that occurred last night in Delmar that left one man dead.
On November 11, 2023, at approximately 11:34 p.m., a white 2006 Cadillac STS was traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Whitesville Road, east of Whaley’s Road. For reasons under investigation, the driver failed to maintain control of the car and allowed it to rotate counterclockwise as it slid off the roadway. After exiting the roadway, the Cadillac struck multiple trees and continued to violently rotate, during which the front right passenger was ejected from the car. The passenger came to rest inside the wooded area near the south edge of the roadway.
The driver of the Cadillac, a 35-year-old man from Seaford, Delaware, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld until his family and relatives are notified. The passenger, a 31-year-old woman from Seaford, Delaware, was flown to an area trauma hospital, where she was admitted for life-threatening injuries.
The roadway was closed for approximately 4 hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.
The Delaware State Police Troop 7 Collision Reconstruction Unit continues investigating this incident. Troopers are asking anyone who witnessed this crash to contact Sergeant J.
