The Sussex County Children’s Book Festival will return on Saturday, May 2, offering a day of literacy-focused activities and family programming at the Milton Public Library.
Scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the free event will feature author meet-and-greets, live story times and a variety of interactive activities for children and families.
Attendees can also explore the Sussex County Bookmobile, participate in activities such as face painting and balloon art, and visit a petting zoo and inflatable obstacle course. Organizers say the event is designed to promote reading and connect families with local educational resources.
Librarians from Sussex County Libraries will be on site, along with community literacy partners including Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The event will also include a scheduled appearance by Delaware Blue Coats mascot Baby Blue.
Food trucks and vendors will be available throughout the day. Due to limited on-site parking, attendees are encouraged to park at H.O. Brittingham Elementary School, where a complimentary shuttle service will begin running at 9:45 a.m.
The festival is supported by a number of local organizations and businesses, including the Town of Milton, Friends of the Milton Public Library and other community partners.
Organizers say the event aims to encourage a love of reading while providing accessible, family-friendly activities for the community.
