The Big Draw Festival returns in October

Mispillion Art League (MAL), Milford’s community art resource, is pleased to announce it is once again hosting the internationally acclaimed The Big Draw Festival! On Saturday, October 8, from 9 am to 3 pm, gather with us to celebrate the joy of color. MAL will offer free, family-friendly art activities on Park Avenue in downtown Milford.

Save the date and get ready to join this remarkable community event. The Festival is for everyone of all ages—families, children, artists, non-artists—anyone looking to have a fun art-making experience. Come out and enjoy the fun of creating art for art’s sake!

The Festival was first organized in the UK 22 years ago and is now the world’s biggest celebration of drawing. It promotes the universal language of drawing as a tool to learn, express and invent. This year’s theme, “Come Back to Color,” is about bringing color back into our lives post-pandemic—offering an opportunity to celebrate family, culture and heritage by creating art through experimentation and creativity.

“This has been the best day of my life.”  – Exclaimed a 5-year-old Big Draw participant while making chalk drawings on the sidewalk.

The Art League also offers art classes in many different mediums for ages pre-K and up. Class details and registration can be found on the website www.mispillionarts.org, on Facebook and Instagram (@MispillionArts), and on www.delawarescene.com. While visiting, don’t forget to wander through our Gift Shop, filled with local, handmade artwork. Located at 5 N Walnut Street in Milford, MAL is open Tuesday–Friday from 10 a.m.to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Mispillion Art League welcomes artists, aspiring artists, and anyone who loves art and believes in its power to enrich all members of the community. Our mission is to provide community-wide access to a quality visual arts program. By joining MAL and supporting it financially, you are making an investment in the community by promoting access to all kinds of art for all kinds of people.

The Mispillion Art League is an exempt organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. This organization is supported in part by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes Delaware arts events on www.DelawareScene.com.
