Hillary Brock, owner of The Nest Spa & Skincare Boutique, is grateful for the support of her customers and the community over the past few months. In Sept. 2020, a fire on the 100 block of Federal Street in Milton caused by an electrical malfunction destroyed her business and several others. Although no one was injured despite people being inside the building when the fire began, Brock’s business was a total loss.
“I was renting that space and offered nails, skin care and massage services,” Brock said. “At the time, I was handling all the supplies for everyone working with me as well as my own needs as an esthetician. I wasn’t sure what I was going to do but figured this was like a redo for my business. My husband and I had just built a new home in Lewes. We put up a big pole barn and my husband suggested we section off the front of the building and turn it into my shop.”
Brock also revised her business plan, renting space in her new building to a massage therapist and another esthetician who run their operations completely separate from Brock’s skincare business. She does not offer nail service at the new location.
“I have two small children, so this gives me the ability to be close to home with them,” Brock said. “I also have two older children and this line of work gave me the flexibility to be at their ball games, help them with school and just be available.”
Brock was trained at the Delaware Cosmetology Institute. She was born in Beebe Hospital and attended elementary school in Seaford. Her family moved to Milford and she graduated from Milford High School.
