Newark — The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces to motorists that Valley Road will be closed between Briarcreek Court and Kirkcaldy Drive so crews can replace the culvert underneath the road. The closure starts Monday, March 13th and is scheduled to continue until Sunday, April 23rd.

Reins of Honor Fundraiser Brings Healing to Veterans and Active-Military Through Horses
On Saturday, April 26, Reins of Honor will hold its annual fundraiser to support programs that use horses to assist active-duty military and veterans coping with emotional and mental health challenges. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. along the 100 block of Moorton Road near Cheswold. The organization offers equine-assisted psychotherapy and other services designed to promote healing through interaction with horses. These sessions take place outdoors in a natural, calming environment and are guided by both a licensed clinician and an equine specialist. Some participants prefer engaging directly with the animals, while others benefit simply from being in the serene space among the horses. READ MORE: 10 schools honored with Purple Star recognition for supporting military families In addition to therapy sessions, Reins of Honor provides a connection-based program where individuals work one-on-one with a horse of their choosing and an equine professional. These activities are conducted entirely on the ground—not as a riding program—and are structured to encourage emotional awareness and personal growth. Through forming bonds with the animals, participants often gain deeper insight into their emotions and relationships. The April 26 event will feature auction items, door prizes, and a 50/50 raffle. Tickets are priced at $30, and parking is free. All proceeds will help fund Reins of Honor’s continued work in offering unique, horse-assisted services to those who have served.
