Delaware State Police have arrested 24-year-old Bradley Lukens of Camden Wyoming, DE on drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop that occurred yesterday afternoon in Dover.
On February 27, 2023, at approximately 2:13 p.m., a trooper on patrol observed a gray Mercedes E350 commit multiple traffic violations while traveling northbound on Route 13 in the area of South Governors Avenue in Dover. As the trooper pulled behind the Mercedes it accelerated and began traveling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated, and contact was made with the operator and sole occupant, identified as Bradley Lukens. Immediately upon contact, the trooper smelled an odor of marijuana from inside of the vehicle. Subsequently, a probable cause search was conducted, and the trooper discovered a loaded Glock 9mm handgun, a second loaded magazine with 9 rounds, and approximately 3.42 grams of marijuana.
Lukens was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 3 where he was charged with the following crimes:
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (Felony)
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited (Felony)
- Possession of Marijuana (Civil)
- Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession
- Improper Lane Change
- Failure to Signal Properly
- Failed to Remain Within a Single Lane
Lukens was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court # 2 and released on a $8,750 unsecured bond.
